HEY! DOWN HERE! Don’t forget to craft your award-winning entry for The Jacket, the writing competition. Details can be found 2 posts down. The deadline is NEXT (not this) Friday. And if anyone can tell me how to get this contest stuck on the right side of this blog with a picture, or on a separate page or something, before I commit hara-kiri, I would really appreciate it.
Tee hee! Made me smile! Love the pictures and your usual quick turn on a phrase, or a word, in this case.
I’m LEAPING for joy because school was just cancelled due to a snow and ice storm. Hurray !:)

It’s 50+ degrees here this morning and I wore my raincoat instead of my winter coat. I’m thinking of taking a walk at lunch – how weird when we’re only 7 hours apart. I’d be back in bed, if I were you. Enjoy your day off!

I really wish I hadn’t read your reply, Peg. We’re getting a foot of snow tomorrow. Last I checked, that was a whole 12 inches.

Darla, get out now, before you totally lose your sanity!

I’m not sure if anyone will guess that one, but it’s a great visual. Like mini-salmon swimming upstream to spawn, eh?

Thanks! BTW, I got your entry for The Jacket competition and it is safely deposited in my Vault of Writing Gold (pictured above). Thanks for playing along.

Enjoyed it tremendously. Hope for more in the future and might even hold a contest of my own. Great idea, well executed. HF

You know, when my goldfish made the leap, they fell to their death on the green shag carpet. Stupid fish.

Gre-e-e-at. Just the inspiring caption I was looking for to go with this picture. Thanks for that, Lisa.

You know, I just tell it like it is.

And I’ve always admired that about you.

That story sounds familiar…Oh, yeah, it happened to us, too! Probably had the same carpet…

It’s reassuring to know that other people had suicidal goldfish too.

I think the point is that you both have carpet that causes suicidal thoughts in fish. Someone should commission a study about that.

Fortunately, that mid 70’s carpet (and the fish) are long gone.

To add your contest to the sidebar, go to Appearance, Widgets – and drag the Image widget to your sidebar. It might complain, but just ignore it.
Click on the little arrow to open up the dialogue box.
From your Media Library, copy the Image URL of the photo of your jacket. Paste it in the box under Image URL. You might have to play around with the Image Width and Height numbers to make the photo look right. (You don’t want the jacket to look fat…)
Copy the URL of your post and paste it in the Link URL box.
In the caption box, enter a brief explanation, and tell people to click on the photo to read the post about the contest. Then click Save.

It worked! I could kiss you, Margie! Any idea how to get the title bold, and fix the wonky spacing of the caption?

I’ve checked WordPress’s documentation (http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/image-widget/) and it doesn’t really say much beyond what I’ve told you. I think you are stuck with what your theme does for the title, and I don’t know why you have that big dash in front of the text!
You might use the Text Widget instead – (http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/) – you can use HTML to modify things more with it.

Only problem is, where is your sidebar?

Can’t you see The Jacket picture in the right-hand column, Tar? It shows OK on my computer, although it’s cutting off the right edge of the picture.

I see what you meant – the new format doesn’t show the sidebar when you are in a post, just on the home page. I switched back to the old way. Thanks for the heads up!

Me too. And I am terrified to see what they did to my beloved Lorax (which I happen to have memorized when reading it to my niece and nephew every night for years). Terrified.
But then I am going into mourning shortly anyway. I just learned that one of my childhood crushes, Davy Jones, died. Wasn’t he just about 12 years old?

I know, Elyse It’s bound to be all PC’d up.
I just found out about Davy Jones! One of my employees came back to tell me “wasn’t he from your time?” Um, yeah, I WATCHED the SHOW a lot, but he was WAY older than me. May he rest in peace.
LikeLike
Yes, he was about 13 years older than me when the show was on (and afterwards, probably too, come to think of it). Then that was a HUGE gap. Now, not so much!
I’m sure he’s singing “Here we come …”

Goodness, how long did you work on this? What dedication, what leapishness!
You really have a knack for fun games and contests. Why, I think this is a whole new business venture opportunity—Blog Training for Fun and Fewer Snoring Readers. There might even be money to be had.

Where?? Where’s the money, Sandy??? Cuz I haven’t been able to see any around these parts. It’s amazing(ly stupid) how much time I waste on this stuff that doesn’t pay any of my bills. Grumble, grumble, grumble.

I am sorely disappointed that any test using this play on words would exclude me. While you have been diligent in linking the pictures you chose to the words, you have left out the most important and obvious hint, i.e., a picture of me. I trust that in 2016 you will not make the same mistake.
Yours truly,
William Boyd (posthumously)

They have the attention span of 10 secs., so….in that amount of time, thinking life is that bad, plotting how to croak, assuming a fish can channel Michael Jordan at the same time….pretty scary. lol

Leap Years aren’t supposed to make your brain hurt, are they? The only one I got right was Hop on Pop. Fingers crossed for a better success rate in 2016! 🙂

I lied. I got a few more than that one right– it just sounds more dramatic to say I only got one correct. 😉

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I usually try to hang out with higher=than=average intelligence blogging buddies, so I was racking my brains trying to figure out how to disassociate from you. Ha ha! Just kidding (except for when I’m not kidding.)

It took forever. Now I know about the photo gallery feature, however, which is sure to come in handy in the future. It’s like that saying “Give a man a fish and he can eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he can feed himself for a lifetime.”
Hopefully I’ll catch more than the suicidal goldfish that you and Lisa attract.
