Who the heck-fire is responsible for this foolishness?

Peg Schulte writes a humor column for the News Tribune, as well as for a lifestyle magazine called Boomers. She takes on life from an “Everywoman” perspective and calls herself the secret lovechild of Erma Bombeck and Dave Barry.  At least she used to until they threatened legal action.

She started her blog, Peg-o-Leg’s Ramblings, as a way to keep in touch with her large, extended family. It is on the WordPress shortlist of Recommended Humor Blogs, one of only 39 to be so selected. The blogging platform giant has chosen her drivel nine times for their round-up of top posts, an honor they call Freshly Pressed.

Peg is a small-town insurance agent in her spare time. She and her husband have 2 daughters who grew up seemingly overnight and promptly moved as far away as possible.

Although she is the one who wrote this unrealistically flattering profile, she refers to herself in the third person because that is how the Queen talks. It’s good to be Queen.

One of my favorite bands covered one of their songs (“Happy Hunting Grounds”) and after that I kept hearing about them. (Granted, I spend much of my time in record stores, so I guess it shouldn’t be too shocking.) So I recently broke down and bought a copy of “Propaganda.” And haven’t looked back since.

I already followed 2 blogs on this list and when I saw that their titles were the same today, I thought something fishy was going on…Fun to see everyone’s versions and check out other humor blogs – but why 19? Wouldn’t 20 be more of a round number? 🙂 I would love to contribute/be included if you are going to be adding to this select group (she types sheepishly, but also knows it doesn’t hurt to ask, well it can hurt, but what the hey…) I’m just feeling giddy about discovering a bunch of new humor writers. Harper Faulkner, All Write, “suggested” your blog today, “I Am The Line Slayer”, and, gads, what a chuckle and vast memories of “lines” yours brought! Being an insurance agent, you must have some great tales to tell. My hub is insurance agent and once, a long time ago, I was a fledging claims adjuster (which I really enjoyed…in-house, though, for a not-so-long-time [but enough to have some great laughs and then some tears as well]). I live outside a small Wyoming town and when I go grocery shopping at stores, I KNOW which cashiers’ line to try. But all does not always work out as so pre-planned as with yours!

Just found you and read some of your rantings. You are terrific and I agree with everything I’ve read. Perhaps I am an evil twin. Or perhaps you are. My Catholic upbringing gave me a good education (and also “ducking” moves if when I grew up and wanted to become a boxer I would have the skills learned from ducking nun’s back hand slaps, knuckle smashes, belt dodges et al. but I digress.) The education taught us English. I am forever cringing when I see ads on tv touting “Less calories” or when I hear “Do you know where your children are AT?” I when to a seminar recently and the speaker ended 90% of his sentences with AT. Kid you not. My ears are still ringing. I don’t even remember the topic of which he spoke.
Congratulations on your gift of writing and the use of the English language. And remember this:if you ever see a nun driving down the street——GET OUT OF HER WAY!
