Freshly Pegged – Rachel’s Table

Have you ever sent a post out into the blogosphere, absolutely convinced it was going to be Freshly Pressed?  And then it wasn’t?

You’re not alone.freshlypegged2

I’ve asked some fantastic bloggers to select the post that had them muttering,”THIS One Should Have Been Freshly Pressed.”  A new blogger is featured each week to receive the coveted Freshly Pegged distinction.  Participants will be awarded a genuine, simulated “Freshly Pegged” JPEG badge, suitable for posting in a place of honor on their blogs.  Or not.

Be sure to read all the great Freshly Pegged offerings to date.  But before you do, let’s check out…

Rachel from Rachel’s Table. I met Rachel through a mutual blogging buddy, Jules from Go Jules Go. Rachel describes herself as a “locavore.” Her blog is mainly about “finding, cooking, eating and serving local, seasonal foods.” She presents yummy recipes with photos so gorgeous the dishes look good even to a confirmed junkfood-junkie like me. I know, right?

Rachel isn’t just about pretty pictures, though. Her latest post, Blogging Against Hunger, is a thought-provoking call for awareness of hunger in America. She isn’t all about serious, either, as the following post clearly shows.

Lovely food, lovely photos, lovely woman. Also completely insane, as I’m sure you’ll agree after you watch Rachel take on the Peppermeister Roulette challenge. Totally nutso.

Last September the first round of Peppermeister Roulette hit the blog.

Let’s see how HOT Round 2 is, shall we?

If you’d like to learn more about the peppers tasted here, visit Peppermeister’s blog (make sure to tell him Rachel wants a tie-breaker).

Ha! Yeah, this was indeed a great one. And will be the proof they need to commit her, when that time eventually and indubitably comes. 😉

  3. This really should have been FP’d, for many reasons, but even just as some sort of compensation, if nothing else.

  4. I want to know the names of those peppers so I know what to avoid. 😀 Hilarious.

Hilarious! i watched the whole video. I recently ate a sandwich filled with wasabi and pulled a face with every bite! … I ate the whole thing. The endorphin rush was well worth it!!!!

Thanks for featuring my video, Peg! I’m honored to be included with such a great lineup of bloggers. And a little sheepish that my writing was set aside for shock value humor. We’ll do anything for a laugh…right??

Also, thanks for mentioning my post on hunger. Being a foodie and lover of local, fresh ingredients, it’s an issue that hits close to home. EVERYONE should have access to nutritious food.

I’m crying right now, and it’s not from mega-hot peppers, but the injustice of this vlog being overlooked! WRONGFUL!

Maybe the August face-off will catch their overlords’ attention?!

This Pepper-Off is highly anticipated. By me. And you. And maybe someone else.

No doubt the amount of creativity, editing, and thumb work Peppermeister and I will put into the Pepper-Off will garnish some fresh pressed love.

Me. I’m that other someone. And I want to be there for this. It should be EPIC. Unless you are just both doing your own videos and putting both in a post? But I’m assuming you will be in the same room at the same time, eating peppers and making your tear ducts explode, yes? Like I said, count me in.

  9. Congrats on the Freshly Pegged, Rachey-Poo! (ok, I swear I’ll stop calling you that…tomorrow)

This vlog was epic and really should have been FP’d. If we ever meet in person, I’ll be sure to dig up some of the world’s hottest peppers and have you sample them so I can watch you cry. (that came out so wrong)

I only wish I hadn’t been out sick for 2 days w a rotten, lingering cold and Pink Eye like a toddler so I’m too swamped to visit even my own blog. And 1 hr ago I slammed mt=y thumb in my cement-lined, fireproof file cabinet. If I take it out of this bowl of ice water for more than 1 min it hurts like a….really bad, hurty thing. So I’m tping 1 handed and not sure how me and my bowl are going to make it home,

Boy am I a whiner. sorry

  10. You might want to do a little research on this, but I’m pretty sure watching beauties eat hot peppers is considered fetish porn in the Netherlands.

So… I’m pretty sure this would have TKO’d me.

Ouch! I can’t tolerate really hot spicey food so watching your show was a bit difficult for me.
That said, bravo for completing your mission – consume 5 very HOT peppers in a row, while being taped. Yikes!
As I’ve said many times, and in all sincerity, better you than me. Bon appetite’! 🙂

Ya know? I’m late here, in usual fashion. But NOT because this wasn’t the most bad ass v-log ever. Darla’s baton-twirling, I’m sad to say, got knocked off my fav blog videos when the Roulette came to town. WP really made me mad when they passed over this beauty (“beauty” meaning all of the above: the video, home-grown peppers, AND the lovely locavore).

This was back in April? REALLY??? I don’t think I’ve slept since then…
