Oh my darling clementines, I must leave you now. I’m heading out-of-town for a weekend of family fun in the great state of Michigan. (Michigan – it’s a state of mind.)
I will be incommunicado. Not only that, Gilligan, but I probably won’t be anywhere near a computer.
I won’t be able to nag you (by which I mean gently suggest) to go vote for me over at the caption contest at Good Greatsby’s blog. And did I mention how lovely/handsome you’re looking today?
No smack will I be able to talk with Darla at She’s a Maineiac over that very same contest.
No humble exhortations will I be able to toss out about voting for my entry in k8did’s Envy writing competition. (Where Darla is AGAIN dogging my footsteps using such underhanded methods as stellar writing!)
Until Monday, dearies (I keep almost saying chipmunks – sorry Jules) when I discover whether or not my life will have caption-contest-victory meaning, or if the bitter taste of defeat will be in my mouth. Let me leave you now with an inspiring quote and my heartfelt wishes for a wonderful weekend.
“It’s Friday! Let’s party like it’s the weekend!”
Oh, I want to go to Michigan, too. Have a fabulous time – try to find a computer somewhere, lovie and keep in touch…

Too busy with family stuff. I had a great time, back now, and I need to get busy with work stuff. Oh, the interruptions on my blogging time are dreadful!

Had a great time! No computer, but my sister Tar kept me informed. Sorry to miss all the trash talk, Darla. Did we win?

Last I checked, you won GG’s, List of X won Mr. B’s and Lorna is winning Katy’s. I really don’t know how I am expected to go on with my life now, it’s all too much, Pegolicious. Apparently I couldn’t count on the monkey vote to take me to the top.

Mr. Skittles? You’re fired!

I suspect that may have more to do with me threatening to hold my breath until I turn blue if people don’t vote for me, so I take that with a grain of sand.

Had a great time, but missed the weekend opportunity to get caught up at home. Must make time for laundry tonight if anyone will ever have clean underwear again!

We didn’t log any beach time, but did go out for a ride on the boat yesterday – beautiful day, but hot.

There’s a link to a Frankfort photo album on my home page (right column). It’s spectacular scenery (it’s there mostly to show off my photography). That’s my favorite little MI town, by far. Charlevoix would be second.
If you’re up that way, you should definitely book a room there for a holiday! We drive three days to get there — with four kids to entertain — and it’s entirely worth it.

Thanks for the info, Shannon. Your pictures are beautiful. We’ve been to Traverse City several times (in fact we vacationed on a little lake SE of town for a couple of years), but I’ve never been to Frankfort. Can I ask where you stay when you’re there?

Candace and Paul are gracious hosts. We have family in MI also, so we would just all meet there (a bunch of other family in Traverse City) and then we all meet in K-zoo for a proper family reunion before we trek back south. If you’re ever in contact, be sure to tell them that Shannon in Texas said HOWDY!

My new motto is “Chill, Peg”. No worrying about anything anymore.
Do you think that kind of attitude is a good idea? Is it normal? What do you think?

I think you’re doing just fine. Love good, clean, fun competition. And no worries. 🙂

Wow, I did not realized that winning the GG caption contest is such a big deal.
So sure, I’ll add a vote for you. Yeah, I am a finalist too, but this is obviously more important to you than it is to me 🙂 (And also there is no way I am ever going to win in this clash of the titans).
Oh yeah, and just to be fair, I’ll vote for She’s A Maniac tomorrow.

Hey, your entry was great! I meant no disrespect towards the other entries.
This contest is no big deal…nah, no way. No biggie at all. It’s not like anybody’s happiness in life is on the line – that would just be craZy!
But you did say you went and voted for me, right? And maybe you’ll be too busy to vote tomorrow????

I think I already voted for you at least twice. Not that you need it or anything

Oh yes, I’m planning to take over all caption contests first, then all comments sections, then all blogs, and finally, the whole internet. I think that’s surest way to get a few more followers.

I voted for Michigan (just kidding – for some odd reason every post I’m reading this morning is asking me to vote for something. I’m so torn!!). Have a fun weekend, and if you’re reading this in Michigan, then you need to look up. I think I’ll use your down time to read some of your old posts – I need some weight loss encouragement and your latest photos are so inspiring.

I’m getting not just a little bit tired of competing with you and Darla on GG and the Byronic… and never even being nominated. I’m not sure why I like you anymore. Hmph. (Just kidding. You come up with pretty kick-ass captions.)

I’m usually left in the dust at GGs, and I’ve never been in the finals on Byronic, so, yeah. So we can still be friends, right?

Morning Peg! Hope your ride home was speedy with no problems. It was great seeing you and Gwen!
I thought GG’s caption contest was done THIS morning? What’s up with that? Just how long will it run? Just askin’.
Richie will be picked up by the recruiting officer at 11:30 – one hour away. Saying a prayer for Carolyn, Alicia et al. Big life step. Have a great day! 🙂

Ooh, Peg, I hope you had fun! So funny, I felt the ‘chipmunk’ spirit coming through when you addressed us, and then you brought it up! Is it weird that I love that “oh my darling Clementine” song, too? It’s in my head now, along with this other silly one I can’t get out of my head, “There’s a hole in the bucket.”

No, we were on the east side of the lower peninsula. But I have been to Sleeping Bear Dunes and it is a lovely, lovely place, even if I didn’t have the nerve to hike straight up and down the dunes. I chickened out and took the long way around, instead.
